When working with anaerobic bacteria it is important to have the capability perform parallel bioreactor growth experiments that are both controllable and reproducible, although capital consumables costs for commercially available systems often prohibitively high. Hence, a three-vessel system was designed constructed has capabilities batch fed processes can also be set up continuous culture at fraction of cost commercial systems. This carries over many same functionalities those higher price point entry, including in-line monitoring temperature, pH, redox poise. To validate performance this Clostridium saccharoperbutylacetonicum grown under conditions promote ABE fermentation, an established industrial process used produce solvents acetone, butanol ethanol. Measurements cell density, poise all confirmed reproducible these vessels, solvent quantitation via GCMS verified consistent metabolic activities separate cultures.
